The next edition runs on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 April 2027, with a welcome reception on Sunday 25 April in the Markthalle Basel, and the organiser recorded more than 3,500 participants from more than 50 countries, 140 exhibitors and 6,500 partnering meetings in 2026. Basel is home to Roche, Novartis, Lonza and Sandoz, and the venue on Messeplatz in Kleinbasel is a few tram stops from Basel SBB station and around 20 minutes from EuroAirport. - The organiser gives the whole transfer from the airport to the venue as around 20 minutes
- Messe Basel says hotel guests receive a BaselCard at check-in for free public transport in Basel, the EuroAirport included, and the organiser adds that your hotel booking confirmation covers the transfer to the hotel on the day you arrive
From Zurich Airport and by train

- The welcome reception venue, the Markthalle, is a five minute walk from Basel SBB station, according to the organiser
How do you get around during Swiss Biotech Day?
Trams to Messeplatz
- From Basel SBB, take tram 1 (towards Badischer Bahnhof) or tram 2 (towards Eglisee) to Messeplatz, about ten minutes according to Messe Basel
- From Badischer Bahnhof, the organiser lists trams 1, 2, 6 and 21; from the city centre, tram 6 (towards Riehen) or tram 14 (towards Dreirosenbrücke)
- The organiser says the former Messe car park is closed for construction work and recommends the Badischer Bahnhof car park, 5 minutes by tram or 10 to 15 minutes on foot from the venue
- The congress centre's address is Messeplatz 21, 4058 Basel
Choosing where to stay
- Messeplatz and Kleinbasel keep you closest to the conference; the organiser says hotels at Messeplatz are a two minute walk away
- The Old Town in Grossbasel, across the Rhine, is easy to reach on foot or within a few minutes by public transport from the congress centre, Messe Basel says

Do you need a visa for Swiss Biotech Day?
Visa-free / visa on arrival
- Switzerland is in the Schengen Area but is not a member of the EU; the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) describes it as one of the associated states that apply all the Schengen rules, and EU and EFTA citizens enter with a valid ID card or passport
- Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and many other countries can visit the Schengen Area, Switzerland included, without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180 day period
- SEM says the Entry/Exit System has been introduced throughout the Schengen area since 12 October 2025, so non EU travellers have their fingerprints and a facial image taken at the external border; allow extra time at passport control
- ETIAS, the planned travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, is not yet in operation; SEM says the EU will announce the date a few months before it starts
eVisa / visa required
- Nationals of countries such as India, China, South Africa and Türkiye need a Schengen (type C) visa, which SEM says is valid for Switzerland and the other Schengen states
- SEM does not issue visas itself: Swiss representations abroad decide on them, and the swiss-visa.ch portal explains how and where to apply
- Under Schengen rules you can apply no earlier than six months and at least 15 days before travel, and the normal processing time is 15 days
- The organiser does not issue invitation letters, but registered delegates who have paid can ask for a letter confirming their registration
Documents to carry
- A passport issued within the last ten years and valid for at least three months after you leave the Schengen area, as SEM requires for short stays
- Evidence of the purpose of your trip and enough money for your stay and return, such as your Swiss Biotech Day registration and hotel booking
- Your visa and supporting documents, including the organiser's registration confirmation letter if you applied with one
Entry and visa rules change; check current requirements with the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) or the Swiss embassy or consulate before you book.
