Viva Technology returns to Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from 17 to 20 June 2026, and VivaTech has grown into Europe's biggest startup and innovation event: more than 180,000 attendees, thousands of startups, global CEO keynotes and national pavilions from dozens of countries, capped by a Saturday open to the general public. The crowd is distinctive — corporate innovation teams and investors mixing with founders, policymakers and students — and so is the location: unlike most mega-shows, the venue sits inside Paris itself, on the southern edge of the 15th arrondissement with a metro station at the gates. That means the surrounding neighbourhoods — the 15th, Montparnasse, Beaugrenelle — absorb the demand spike directly, and June is already peak Paris season, so walkable rooms vanish early. The rates on this page are live and bookable, letting you compare real availability within walking distance of the halls.

Getting there

From ORY (Paris Orly)

  • Metro Line 14 runs direct from Orly into the city; change at Madeleine to Line 12, which terminates near Porte de Versailles — around 45 minutes total
  • The metro fare from Orly uses the special airport rate (about 13 euros); onward city legs are covered once inside
  • A taxi to the 15th arrondissement runs on the regulated left-bank flat fare, roughly 35-45 euros, taking 25-40 minutes
  • Orly is the closer, simpler airport for this event — prefer it over CDG when fares are comparable

From CDG (Paris Charles de Gaulle)

  • Take the RER B south to Cité Universitaire and hop on the T3a tram, which runs straight to Porte de Versailles — around 70-80 minutes all in
  • Alternatively RER B to Denfert-Rochereau then Line 6 and Line 12 via Montparnasse for a more sheltered but change-heavy route
  • Taxis to the left bank operate on a fixed fare of about 65 euros and take 45-75 minutes depending on the périphérique
  • The RER B airport leg needs the airport ticket (about 13 euros); allow for rush-hour crowding with luggage

Getting around during Viva Technology (VivaTech)

Getting to Porte de Versailles daily

  • Metro Line 12's Porte de Versailles station exits directly opposite the venue, and trams T2 and T3a stop alongside — this is one of the best-connected big venues in Europe
  • Line 12 links the venue to Montparnasse in four stops, which is why Montparnasse hotels are a favourite VivaTech base
  • Morning entry queues at Hall 1 peak from 8:30; badges are QR-scanned, so have your phone ready before the doors
  • Ride-hail to the venue in the morning is fine, but after the evening sessions the surrounding boulevards gridlock — the metro wins

Around Paris

  • The flat 2.50 euro fare covers metro, tram and RER within Île-de-France (airport stations excepted); load tickets on a Navigo Easy card or directly on your phone
  • June evenings are long and warm — Vélib bike share and walking are realistic for the 15th arrondissement and the riverside
  • VivaTech's after-hours circuit spreads across town, from Station F in the 13th to the Marais — allow 30-40 minutes between venues by metro
  • Saturday brings the general public to the show and weekend crowds to the city; plan business logistics for Wednesday to Friday

Visa & entry

Visa-free / visa on arrival

  • France is in the Schengen area: nationals of around 60 countries — including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and the UAE — enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180
  • Visa-free visitors are registered under the biometric EU Entry/Exit System (EES) at the border; first entries take longer
  • ETIAS pre-travel authorisation is expected to launch in late 2026, after this edition — check its status if you are planning for 2027

eVisa / visa required

  • Nationals of India, China, South Africa, Turkey and most of Africa, the Middle East and South-East Asia need a short-stay Schengen (type C) visa beforehand
  • Apply via France-Visas and your local visa centre; June is peak season, so secure an appointment at least two months ahead
  • VivaTech pass confirmation or a partner/exhibitor invitation letter supports the business purpose of the application

Documents to carry

  • Passport valid three months beyond your Schengen departure and issued within the last ten years
  • VivaTech pass confirmation and any startup, partner or speaker credentials
  • Accommodation confirmation and return ticket, which border officers may request from any visitor

Rules evolve, particularly around EES and ETIAS; verify current requirements with the French embassy or France-Visas before booking.

First time at Viva Technology (VivaTech)?

  • Know the rhythm: Wednesday to Friday are business days, Saturday is open to the public and transforms into a consumer festival — schedule investor and client meetings accordingly
  • Buy the right pass early; premium and executive passes with lounge and networking-app privileges sell out, and prices rise in tranches
  • The action concentrates in Hall 1 with country pavilions and stages spread across the site — walk the floor plan on the app the night before, not on arrival
  • Stay within reach of Line 12 (the 15th, Montparnasse) so the venue is minutes away and you keep evenings free for side events
  • Book for June early regardless of the show: Paris hotel demand peaks in June and VivaTech week compounds it

Insider tips from repeat attendees

  • The networking app's meeting scheduler fills a week before opening — lock your key slots before you fly, not on day one
  • Friday afternoon, after the headline keynotes and before the public Saturday, is the calmest window for real conversations at startup stands
  • Skip the hall catering queues: rue de la Convention and rue Lecourbe, ten minutes' walk away, are lined with proper Parisian lunch options
  • Many of the best conversations happen off-site — the unofficial calendar of rooftop and embassy side events matters as much as the floor, so keep evenings unbooked until the invitations circulate

Viva Technology (VivaTech) travel FAQs

When is Viva Technology (VivaTech) 2027?

Viva Technology (VivaTech) takes place 16 June to 19 June 2027 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, France.

Where is Viva Technology (VivaTech) held?

Viva Technology (VivaTech) is held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, France. The nearest airport is ORY.

Where should I stay for VivaTech?

The 15th arrondissement is the natural base — parts of it are walking distance from Porte de Versailles. Montparnasse offers bigger hotel stock four metro stops away on Line 12, and Beaugrenelle by the river adds Seine-side options. Anywhere on Line 12 or the T3a tram keeps the commute trivial.

How much do hotels cost during VivaTech?

June is already the most expensive month in Paris, and VivaTech adds a sharp localised spike in the 15th and Montparnasse — expect rates well above even normal June levels near the venue, with walkable rooms selling out rather than discounting.

How early should I book hotels for VivaTech?

Three to six months ahead for anything walkable; the intersection of peak season and 180,000 attendees leaves little late inventory. Booking refundable early and optimising later is the standard approach.

Which airport do I fly into for VivaTech?

Orly (ORY) is closer and simpler — about 45 minutes by metro via Lines 14 and 12, or a 25-40 minute taxi on the left-bank flat fare. CDG has more long-haul routes but adds a cross-city journey of well over an hour.

Can the public attend VivaTech?

Yes, but only on Saturday, the final day, when general-public tickets are valid and families and students fill the halls. The first three days are reserved for business pass holders, which is when the investor meetings, corporate delegations and serious networking happen.
