About New South Wales Golf Club
Perched on the headland where Captain Cook first anchored, New South Wales Golf Club is Alister MacKenzie's dramatic seaside links, opened in 1928 and refined by a succession of notable architects since. Holes tumble across duneland and along rocky coast, with the par-3 6th and par-5 5th ranking among the most striking in the country — MacKenzie himself rated the views second only to his new Cypress Point. Wind is the constant companion, making a firm, running game and course management essential. It hosted the 2009 Australian Open, won by Adam Scott, and remains a bucket-list round for travelling golfers. Visitor access is limited to set weekday windows, so planning ahead is key.
