Getting to the Pennsylvania Convention Center
The Pennsylvania Convention Center is at 1101 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, in Center City. The center describes itself as easy to reach by car, train, regional rail at SEPTA's Jefferson Station, and bus, and its directions page says the building sits above Jefferson Station. For most visitors that makes the train the simplest way in.
From Philadelphia International Airport, the SEPTA Airport Line is the direct option. Philadelphia International Airport says trains run every 30 minutes, and lists Jefferson Station as one of the stops, along with Eastwick, Penn Medicine Station, William H. Gray III 30th Street Station, Suburban Station and Temple University. The airport also says all stations on the Airport Line are wheelchair accessible. Get off at Jefferson Station and follow the signs. The Reading Terminal Market directions say to follow signs to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Market from Jefferson Station, so the connection is signed inside the station. Taxis, vans and limousines also stop at the airport baggage claim areas, along with SEPTA bus routes 37 and 108, according to the airport's ground transportation page.
If you arrive by Amtrak, you will come into William H. Gray III 30th Street Station at 2955 Market Street. Amtrak lists the Acela, Northeast Regional, Keystone Service and Pennsylvanian as the routes that serve it, and it lists SEPTA under local and regional transit. The Reading Terminal Market tells Amtrak passengers to take SEPTA Regional Rail from 30th Street to Market Street East and follow the signs to the Convention Center and the Market. Market Street East is the older name for Jefferson Station.
Visitors from New Jersey can use PATCO. The Reading Terminal Market directions say to leave the train at 8th and Market Streets, walk west on Market to 12th Street, turn right and walk one block. That route ends at the corner of 12th and Arch, and the center's own directions put its entrances at the northeast and northwest corners of 12th and Arch Streets, so the two descriptions meet at the same intersection.
SEPTA's Market Frankford Line has no stop at 12th Street. The usual stops for the center are 11th Street and 13th Street, but check before you travel. PhillyVoice reported in August 2026 that SEPTA would close 11th Street Station from September 5, 2026, with reopening expected by the end of August 2027, and that the underground concourses linking 11th Street to 13th Street Station and Jefferson Station would be closed to the public. SEPTA's suggested alternatives were Eighth Street Station and 13th Street Station. If you plan to ride the Market Frankford Line, 13th Street Station is the stop to plan around. The Reading Terminal Market's directions page, which tells riders to leave at 11th Street, did not mention the closure when we read it.
Other riders can use the Broad Street Line to City Hall, then walk east on Market Street, turn left onto 12th Street and walk one block, which is the route given by the Reading Terminal Market. Subway surface trolley riders leave at 13th Street, walk one block east to 12th Street and turn left, per the same page. The center also lists NJ Transit, PATCO, PHLASH and Amtrak as ways to arrive.
Drivers have clear instructions from the center. From the northern and western suburbs, take I-76 East to Exit 344 for I-676 East, then the Broad Street exit and follow Vine Street to 12th Street. From I-95, the center says to take Exit 22 for I-676 West, then the Broad Street exit, turn left onto Vine Street and right onto 12th Street. From the Pennsylvania Turnpike, take I-476 South to I-76 East for about 12 miles to Exit 344. From the New Jersey side, the center's directions use the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, then Vine Street for about six blocks and a left onto 12th Street. On every route the final approach is the same: the entrances are two blocks ahead after you turn onto 12th Street.
Entrances and halls at the Pennsylvania Convention Center
The center names two entrances for visitors arriving by street: the northeast and northwest corners of 12th and Arch Streets. If you are coming up 12th Street from Vine Street, they are the first major corners you reach. The center's floor plan page also lists a Broad Street Atrium on the 100 Level, which is described as 23,400 square feet. Wikipedia describes a main headhouse entrance at 12th and Market Streets, but the center's own pages do not name it, so treat the two Arch Street corners as the entrances to aim for and use your show's attendee guide for anything more specific.
The center says it has seven exhibit halls with 679,000 square feet of exhibit space, plus 82 meeting rooms and two ballrooms, and more than 1 million square feet of flexible event space in total. A separate exhibit hall page describes 528,000 square feet of continuous exhibit space. The two figures are measured differently, and the center does not explain the gap, so the safe reading is that a large share of the halls is contiguous. The original building had four main halls and the 2011 expansion added three, according to Wikipedia. Halls A, B and C extend across 12th Street and sit one story up at the 200 Level.
The levels are easy to remember. The 100 Level has the Broad Street Atrium. The 200 Level holds the exhibit halls, meeting rooms and the Grand Hall. The 300 Level holds the Grand Ballroom, and the 400 Level holds the Terrace Ballroom, which the center lists at 55,408 square feet and which overlooks the Broad Street Atrium. The center also lists a 31,512 square foot ballroom and a second exhibit hall of 125,120 square feet. If you are an exhibitor, your exhibitor manual will say which hall and level your booth is on, and it is worth reading that before you pick which entrance to use.
The Grand Hall is the most unusual space. It is built into the historic Victorian building that was once the Reading Railroad train shed, and the center says it has a majestic arched ceiling and is used for exhibits, registration and receptions. The center lists it at 34,960 square feet on its exhibit hall page and at 34,000 square feet on its floor plan page, so expect roughly 34,000 to 35,000 square feet. Wikipedia reports that a walkway over Arch Street links Hall A to the Grand Hall, and that a second story walkway over 12th Street gives access to the adjoining Marriott. That means you can often move between the halls, the Grand Hall and the Marriott without going outside, which matters in January and February.
Two hotels are physically connected to the center. The center's floor plan page says the venue connects to the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, which it lists with 1,408 rooms, and the Aloft Hotel, which it lists with 179 rooms. The center also publishes interactive floor plans, an accessibility page and a maps page that links to a Google Maps listing, and all of them sit under paconvention.com. Download your show's floor plan before you arrive, because the best entrance depends on whether you are heading to the Grand Hall, a ballroom or an exhibit hall.
Last trains and getting back late
We could not read a current official timetable for the late trains, so we are not going to quote a last departure time. Check the operator for the day you travel. For the airport, use SEPTA's Airport Line timetable and the Jefferson Station departure board. Philadelphia International Airport says Airport Line trains run every 30 minutes, but its pages differ on service hours, so confirm the last train with SEPTA before you plan a late return to the airport. If you are leaving a show at closing time and have a flight the same evening, build in a safe margin and have a backup such as a taxi.
For other lines, the same rule applies. The Broad Street Line, the Market Frankford Line, the trolleys and PATCO each run to their own timetables, and PhillyVoice reports that Market Frankford trains bypass 11th Street while it is closed. The cleanest approach is to check the SEPTA and PATCO trip planners on the day, and to note that Jefferson Station is the one stop that is signed directly to the center.
Taxis and rideshare are the fallback after a late show. The center's own pages do not describe a rideshare pick up point, so we cannot name an official one. A practical approach is to walk to the front of a hotel on 12th or Race Street and meet the car there, because hotel entrances are easy for drivers to find and have clear addresses. The airport's ground transportation page lists four taxi dispatchers (215 Get A Cab, Germantown Taxicab, Philadelphia Taxicab Service and Yellow Cab Co.), and it recommends booking shuttle vans in advance.
If you are staying at one of the hotels connected to the center, getting back late is the easy part. The Marriott and the Aloft both link to the center, according to the center's floor plan page, and the Marriott is reached by a second story walkway over 12th Street, so you can walk from the hall to your room without crossing a street in the dark. Hotels on Race Street, Arch Street and Market Street in the 1100, 1200 and 1300 blocks are a short walk along the same streets that the center uses for its entrances.
Do not plan a late dinner in Reading Terminal Market. The market is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., so it is a breakfast and lunch stop. For an evening meal, ask your hotel front desk or look at the restaurants in Chinatown, which is a short walk east of the center.
Parking at the Pennsylvania Convention Center
The Pennsylvania Convention Center does not run one parking lot of its own. Its parking page says there are many parking options, including garages and surface lots, within blocks of the building, and that rates around the perimeter vary. It recommends the Philadelphia Parking Authority for the closest lots and garages and points to the authority's locator at philapark.org/locator for current rate schedules. We are not quoting prices because the center does not publish any and the rates change by lot and by event.
The center also lists third party operators and says they are not affiliated with it but are within walking distance. The list is ABM Parking, E-Z Park, iParkit Philadelphia, Park America, a facility at conventioncenterparking.com, Parkway Corporation and SP+ Parking. The page gives operators and locators, not individual addresses, so look up the lot on the operator's site and check its distance from 12th and Arch before you reserve.
Reading Terminal Market names two garages as its partner garages: the Hilton Garden Inn Garage at 11th and Arch Streets and the Parkway Garage at 12th and Filbert Streets. Both are close to the center's entrances, which are on 12th and Arch. The Market's accessibility information lists 18 accessible spaces in one and 21 in the other. These garages are a useful starting point if you want to park once and combine a show with a meal at the Market, but check the garage's own height limits and show day hours before you rely on them.
For disabled parking, loading and EV charging, the center says its pages do not cover them and points visitors to the Accessibility at the PCC page, or to the center by phone at 1-800-428-9000 or (215) 418-4700. If you are an exhibitor, ask your show organizer which loading dock and which approach to use. The final approach for drivers is Vine Street to 12th Street, and the center's own directions make a point of turning right from Vine onto 12th, so plan your parking around that approach.
A simple rule works here. If the show is a large one, park on the outskirts and ride SEPTA in. If the show is small, a garage on 11th or 12th Street is fine. In both cases, decide your parking before you leave the hotel.
Which side of the Pennsylvania Convention Center to stay on
The center says there are more than 14,000 hotel rooms within walking distance. Its hotel page lists 45 properties but gives no distance for any of them, so the best way to choose is by street address. The center sits at 1101 Arch Street and its entrances are at 12th and Arch. Philadelphia addresses carry the cross street in the number, so a hotel at 1201 Race Street is at 12th, a hotel at 1301 Race Street is at 13th and a hotel at 1421 Arch Street is at 14th.
Closest are the hotels in the 1000, 1100 and 1200 blocks. The Hilton Garden Inn Center City is at 1100 Arch Street. The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown is at 1201 Market Street and the Loews Philadelphia Hotel at 1200 Market Street. On Race Street, the Four Points by Sheraton Center City is at 1201 Race Street, the Days Inn Philadelphia Convention Center at 1227 Race Street and the Hampton Inn Philadelphia Center City at 1301 Race Street. The Sleep Inn Center City is at 1020 Cherry Street.
Going west towards Broad Street, the Aloft Philadelphia Downtown is at 101 North Broad Street and is connected to the center. The DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City is at 237 Broad Street and the Hyatt at The Bellevue at 200 South Broad Street. Further west, on 17th Street, the center lists the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown at 201 North 17th Street and the Westin, Hotel Palomar and Sofitel at 99, 117 and 120 South 17th Street. These are the hotels for people who want to be near Rittenhouse Square and the restaurants there, and who are happy to take transit or a car to the center.
South of Market Street, Walnut Street has the Holiday Inn Express Midtown at 1305 Walnut Street and the Rodeway Inn Center City at 1208 Walnut Street. On Chestnut Street, Element and W Philadelphia are at 1441 and 1439 Chestnut Street. East of the center, toward Old City and Penn's Landing, the list includes the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District at 400 Arch Street and the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn's Landing. Those hotels suit travelers who want the historic district, but they are further from the halls.
The center's list also includes four airport hotels and one in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. They appear on the list but the center does not describe them as walkable. If your priority is leaving the hall and being in your room in a few minutes, pick a hotel on the 1000 to 1300 blocks of Arch, Race, Market or Cherry Streets. If your priority is price, look a few blocks further west or south and use SEPTA.
Budget hotel brands near the Pennsylvania Convention Center: what we could confirm
Several budget and midscale chain hotels appear on the center's own hotel list, and they are the places to look first if you want a cheap hotel near the Pennsylvania Convention Center. We have not checked rates, so we are not naming any prices, but we can tell you where these hotels are and what the operators say about them.
The Days Inn Philadelphia Convention Center is at 1227 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Wyndham's page for the hotel lists a free light breakfast item with coffee, tea and juice, free Wi-Fi, a smoke free property, an in room coffee and tea maker and hair dryer, and nearby parking for a small daily fee. The Wyndham page does not state a distance to the center, but the 1200 block of Race Street is on the same cross street as the center's entrances.
The Sleep Inn Center City is at 1020 Cherry Street. The Hampton Inn Philadelphia Center City is at 1301 Race Street. The Holiday Inn Express Midtown is at 1305 Walnut Street. The Rodeway Inn Center City is at 1208 Walnut Street, the same address that the center lists for the Red Lion Inn and Suites. The Alexander Inn is on South 12th Street, though the center's list gives no street number for it. All of these are on the center's list of Center City hotels near the center.
A few tips for finding good value. First, book early if your event is a big one. The center's calendar for the next few months includes LeadingAge (October 25 to 28, 2026), NCTE (November 19 to 22, 2026) and the Philadelphia Marathon (November 20 and 21, 2026), and large events fill hotels across the whole district. Second, compare a hotel's room price with the cost of transit and parking, because a cheaper hotel further away can end up costing more. Third, ask the hotel whether it has a group or event block for your show.
If you are booking for a team, hotels can be booked with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available. That is useful for exhibitors who need several rooms with the same dates and want one invoice for the whole group.
How close are the hotels to the Pennsylvania Convention Center on foot?
If you want to walk to the halls, start with the hotels the center itself ties to the building. The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown is at 1201 Market Street. The center says it connects to the building and lists it with 1,408 rooms. Wikipedia explains that the Marriott occupies the old Reading Terminal headhouse and that a second story walkway over 12th Street links the hotel and the center. The Aloft Philadelphia Downtown, at 101 North Broad Street, is the other connected hotel, with 179 rooms listed by the center.
The next group is across the street or within a block or two, judging by their addresses on the center's list. The Hilton Garden Inn Center City is at 1100 Arch Street, the Loews Philadelphia Hotel at 1200 Market Street, the Four Points by Sheraton Center City at 1201 Race Street, the Days Inn at 1227 Race Street and the Hampton Inn at 1301 Race Street. Each is in the same 1000 to 1300 range of cross streets as the center's entrances at 12th and Arch.
We do not give walking times because the center's hotel list does not either, and third party travel sites give times that vary by several minutes. The honest answer is that these hotels are a short walk of a few blocks, and that your actual time will depend on which entrance you need, how crowded the sidewalks are and the weather. Open a map app and enter the hotel address and 12th and Arch Street to see the current route.
Wintertime visitors should look closely at the connected hotels. A show in January, such as the Philadelphia Auto Show (January 16 to 24, 2027) or the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention (January 8 to 10, 2027), is a good time to stay at the Marriott or the Aloft, because you can reach the center without going outside. The center's calendar shows the Auto Show and Tattoo Arts Convention as the first events of 2027.
If a walkable hotel is sold out, the other hotels in the 1400 block, such as the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia Downtown at 1421 Arch Street, are still on the center's list of hotels near the center, but the center does not state a distance. They are a longer walk or a short ride, so check your route first.
Upmarket hotels near the Pennsylvania Convention Center: what we could confirm
People searching for the best hotels near the Pennsylvania Convention Center usually mean one of two things: the most convenient hotel or the most comfortable one. For convenience, the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown and the Aloft Philadelphia Downtown are the best choices because they connect to the building. The center lists the Marriott with 1,408 rooms and the Aloft with 179.
For a more upscale stay, the center's list includes several well known names. The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia is at 10 Avenue of the Arts and the Hyatt at The Bellevue at 200 South Broad Street. The Loews Philadelphia Hotel is at 1200 Market Street, close to the center. The Westin Philadelphia is at 99 South 17th Street, the Sofitel Philadelphia at 120 South 17th Street and Hotel Palomar Philadelphia at 117 South 17th Street. The Notary Hotel is at 21 North Juniper Street, and W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia are at 1439 and 1441 Chestnut Street.
Near Rittenhouse Square, the list includes The Rittenhouse at 210 West Rittenhouse Square, the Warwick Rittenhouse Square at 220 South 17th Street and AKA Rittenhouse Square at 135 South 18th Street. These are further from the halls than the Market Street and Race Street hotels, so they suit travelers who are willing to ride SEPTA or take a car and want to be near restaurants and shops.
We do not rank hotels by guest ratings because we did not verify current ratings, and we are not stating prices. The practical advice is to choose by what matters most for the trip: connected access, price, a quiet street or a good evening neighborhood. If you are booking a group, the connected hotels make it easier to move people to a booth setup at 7 a.m., and the more upscale hotels on 17th Street are better for hosting clients in the evening.
Companies booking hotels for a team can arrange them with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available.
Eating and evenings near the Pennsylvania Convention Center
Reading Terminal Market is the obvious first stop. It is at 1136 Arch Street, with the GPS address 51 N 12th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, and it is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with some holiday exceptions. Its directions say that when driving up 12th Street the Market is on your left as you cross the Arch Street intersection, which puts it directly beside the center's entrances. The Market's accessibility information says all entrance doors are street level except Door 3, with automatic door openers at Door 6 on 12th Street and Door 9 on Filbert Street.
The Market closes at 6 p.m., so it is a breakfast and lunch plan. Individual merchants may keep different hours, so check the day before you go. If you are at a morning show, you can get breakfast or lunch at the Market before or between sessions.
For evening meals, Chinatown is the closest district. The Chinatown Friendship Gate is at 10th and Arch Streets, and Visit Philadelphia describes the neighborhood as an international neighborhood with shops, community festivals and restaurants serving Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Burmese food. The gate is two blocks east of the center's 12th Street entrances along Arch Street, based on the street numbers.
Jefferson Station connects to the concourse level of Fashion District Philadelphia, a mall that replaced the Gallery at Market East in September 2019, according to Wikipedia. It is a useful place to get out of the weather between sessions, and the station's concourse links the center area to PATCO at 8th and Market.
If you want an evening out in the historic district, the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District and the Omni at Independence Park, listed on the center's hotel page, are in that area. We have not checked restaurants or opening hours for specific places, so ask your hotel concierge for a current recommendation, or check a map app for restaurants near 12th and Arch and across Market Street.
Tips for exhibitors and visitors
Know the calendar. The center's events page, which it says is not complete, lists LeadingAge (October 25 to 28, 2026), Reuters Events Pharma Customer Engagement (October 27 and 28, 2026), Future Labs Live USA (October 28 and 29, 2026), LMC Expo (October 29 and 30, 2026), the Pennsylvania Conference for Women (November 5, 2026), the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show (November 6 to 8, 2026), the Society for Neuro Oncology annual meeting (November 12 to 15, 2026), the NCTE Annual Convention (November 19 to 22, 2026), the Philadelphia Marathon (November 20 and 21, 2026), PAX Unplugged (December 4 to 7, 2026), the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention (January 8 to 10, 2027) and the Philadelphia Auto Show (January 16 to 24, 2027). The Philadelphia Flower Show is traditionally in early March, and the Fancy Brigade Finale is on January 1, according to Wikipedia.
Plan around the SEPTA closure. With 11th Street Station closed from September 5, 2026 and the 11th Street concourses closed to the public, Jefferson Station and 13th Street Station are the stops to use. Ride the regional rail to Jefferson Station and follow the signs. If you need accessible access, ask SEPTA about the elevator you plan to use before you travel.
Use the right entrance. The entrances are on the northeast and northwest corners of 12th and Arch. Exhibitors with freight should follow their exhibitor manual and show management for loading instructions, because the center's public pages do not give a loading dock address. The center has pages for exhibitor services, a FedEx business center, retail space and Wi-Fi under paconvention.com, so look there for current details before you ship items.
Carry what you need. Bring comfortable shoes, because the exhibit halls are large, with 528,000 square feet of continuous exhibit space according to the center.
Pick the right time for the Market. The Market is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., so go in the morning or at lunch and do not leave dinner for it.
If you need help, the center lists its phone numbers as 1-800-428-9000 and (215) 418-4700, and its email as info@paconvention.com. For teams and groups, hotels can be booked with a company invoice, and a custom quote is available.
