About AO Arena
The AO Arena holds up to around 21,000 for concerts, with a full lower and upper tier wrapping 360 degrees around a floor that seats or, at around 6,200 standing, hosts a general-admission crowd. The best concert seats are in the lower-tier blocks facing an end stage and the front of the floor, while the upper tier (blocks 200 and above) climbs steeply and the top rows sit a long way back and high up. Formerly the MEN Arena and Manchester Arena, it is the city's flagship indoor venue for concerts, comedy, boxing and family shows.
Opened in 1995 and built partly over Manchester Victoria station in air-rights space, the AO Arena is one of the UK's largest indoor arenas and is notable for being the only major British arena with a full 360-degree bowl of seating on both tiers. A major refurbishment has modernised the concourses and premium spaces while keeping the vast, enclosed bowl that makes big shows feel intense.

End-stage concert
Stage at one end with a standing or seated floor; behind- and beside-stage upper blocks are usually cut from sale.
In-the-round concert
Central stage with the floor and full 360-degree bowl in use, opening up all sides for a higher capacity.
Sport / boxing
Central ring or court with floor seating built around it, used for boxing, wrestling and one-off sporting events.

Seats to avoid & obstructed views
Upper Tier blocks behind or beside an end stage: Little or no view of the stage front; often removed from sale for concerts.
Back rows of the Upper Tier (highest blocks): Very high and far from the stage, so you watch the screens as much as the act.
Lower Tier blocks directly beside the stage: Severe side-on angle and possible obstruction from speaker stacks and staging.
Rear of a standing floor: Flat floor means limited sightlines behind a tall crowd.
Accessibility & companion seating
The AO Arena provides wheelchair-accessible viewing platforms and easy-access seating on both the floor and in the bowl, with accessible toilets, lifts and a dedicated access booking team. Accessible tickets, including a personal assistant space for eligible customers, are arranged through the venue's access line rather than general sale.
Where: Accessible platforms are located at the rear of the floor and at points around the lower bowl, giving a choice of positions and price levels.

Transport
The arena is directly connected to Manchester Victoria station, served by National Rail and the Metrolink tram network, so many fans step almost straight off a train or tram into the venue. Manchester Piccadilly is about a 20-minute walk, and there is limited nearby paid parking, so public transport is strongly recommended.
The area
It sits on the northern edge of Manchester city centre by Victoria station, within walking distance of the Northern Quarter's bars and restaurants and the shops of the Arndale and Corn Exchange. Chetham's and the medieval Cathedral quarter are close by for pre-show wandering.
