About London Stadium

London Stadium holds about 62,500 for West Ham United, making it one of the largest club grounds in England. Seating is split across a continuous lower and upper tier, with the stands named after club legends: the Bobby Moore Stand and Sir Trevor Brooking Stand behind the goals, and the long Billy Bonds Stand and West Stand down the sides. The best atmosphere and views come from the lower tier around the halfway line and the Bobby Moore Lower home end, while the athletics-legacy layout means the very back of the upper tier and the far corners feel a long way from play. It is used chiefly for West Ham home matches, plus summer concerts and athletics meetings.

Built as the centrepiece of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for the London 2012 Games and converted for football when West Ham moved in for 2016-17, the London Stadium wraps a huge single-hoop roof over a shallow, wide bowl. Because the seating was designed around an athletics track, retractable lower tiers are pushed forward for football, but the bottom rows still sit further from the pitch than at a purpose-built ground, which softens the atmosphere on quieter days.

Stratford station is the main hub, roughly a 15-20 minute walk to the ground and served by the Central and Jubilee lines, the Elizabeth line, DLR, London Overground and National Rail; Stratford International, Pudding Mill Lane DLR and Hackney Wick Overground are alternatives that spread the crowds. There is no general public parking at the stadium, so almost everyone arrives by rail or Tube.
