Suncorp Stadium, still Lang Park to locals and "the Cauldron" on State of Origin night, is a 52,500-seat rectangular stadium in Milton about 2km west of the Brisbane CBD. The 2003 rebuild wrapped three tiers tight around the pitch with no running track between the seats and the touchline, which is why it has a reputation as one of the best rectangular grounds in the world to watch football codes in. The bowl is a continuous ring. The Western Grandstand holds the tunnels, benches, media and the corporate suites; the Eastern side faces it across the halfway line; and the two ends sit behind the tryline, the southern end at Milton Road (Gates A and B) and the northern end at Caxton Street (Gates C, D and E). Bay numbering climbs with height: the lower ring is 301 to 340 and runs the whole way around, the middle ring is 506 to 536 across the northern, eastern and southern sides, and the upper ring is 704 to 738, except above the Western Grandstand where it is 601 to 604 and 638 to 640. The Western Grandstand is the one side with no middle tier. For rugby league, rugby union and football the halfway sections on either sideline are the premium view and the tryline ends are the cheapest and the loudest. For concerts the pitch is floored with the stage at one end, which turns the far end and the sections beside the stage into the seats to think twice about.
A rectangular three-tier bowl rebuilt for A$280 million and reopened in 2003, designed by HOK Sport with PDT Architects and engineered by Ove Arup & Partners. The tiers are stacked steeply and pulled tight against a 136m by 82m Strathayr grass pitch with no running track, so the back row is closer to the action than at most Australian grounds, and a cantilevered roof covers the majority of the seating. The ground sits on the site of the former North Brisbane Cemetery and has been a sports field since 1914.

How the venue is set up
NRL and State of Origin
The default layout: full bowl, home fans spread throughout, and the noisiest blocks at the Caxton Street (northern) end. Origin regularly fills the ground to its 52,500 capacity, with the sport record 52,540 set on 12 July 2017.
Rugby union (Queensland Reds, Wallabies)
The same rectangular layout with a slightly wider pitch use. Reds crowds are smaller than Broncos crowds, so the upper tier is often partly closed and tickets consolidate into the lower bowl and the sidelines.
Football (Brisbane Roar and internationals)
Full rectangular pitch, same stand layout. The active Roar support sits behind a goal; for internationals the whole bowl opens and the halfway sideline sections price highest.
Concerts
The field is floored for a standing and seated arena with a stage at one end, usually the Milton Road (southern) end. Seats behind and directly beside the stage are removed from sale or heavily restricted, and the far end of the bowl becomes the most distant view in the house. The all time attendance record is 59,185, set by Ed Sheeran on 18 February 2023.

Lower tierBays 301 to 340, a continuous ring. 301 starts at the northern end of the Western Grandstand and the numbers run round the southern end, up the east and back along the north
The bottom ring of seating, level with and just above the pitch, and the closest you can get without a hospitality ticket. Because there is no running track, the front rows on the sidelines are genuinely on top of the touchline.
Pros: Closest to the players, best for atmosphere and for hearing the contact. The sideline sections here are the most expensive general admission seats in the stadium for a reason.
Cons: The very front rows sit low, so play on the far side can be screened by players and officials, and advertising hoardings cut into the sightline. The lower rows at the tryline ends flatten out badly.
Middle tierBays 506 to 536. There is no middle tier on the western side, where the 600s sit above the lower ring instead
The intermediate ring on the sides of the ground, lifted above the pitch but still well inside the roofline.
Pros: Often the best compromise in the building: high enough to read the shape of the play, low enough to feel close, and almost entirely under cover.
Cons: Prices sit close to the premium lower sideline bays, and this ring stops at the western side, so the main grandstand has no middle tier to trade down into.
Upper tierBays 704 to 738 around the northern, eastern and southern sides, and 601 to 604 plus 638 to 640 above the Western Grandstand
The top ring, steeply raked so the rows behind clear the rows in front. Suncorp's upper deck is much closer to the field than an oval stadium's equivalent.
Pros: The best value in the ground and a genuinely good tactical view of a rugby league or football match. Well covered by the roof, which matters in a Brisbane summer storm.
Cons: The corners are the weakest seats up here, and on a hot afternoon the western side takes the sun until late in the day.
Western GrandstandHalfway line sections plus the corporate levels above
The main stand, holding the players' tunnels, benches, media and the stadium's corporate suites and boxes. Gate F on Castlemaine Street is the corporate entry.
Pros: The traditional main stand view down the halfway line, with the benches and the coaching action directly below you.
Cons: The most expensive side of the ground, and the afternoon sun lands here first.
Northern end (Caxton Street)The northern arc of the 300s, 600s and 700s
The Caxton Street end, closest to the pub strip and the members' entry at Gate C. On Origin and Broncos nights this is the loudest part of the ground.
Pros: Cheapest reserved seats in the stadium and by far the best atmosphere. Quickest exit to the Caxton Street pubs afterwards.
Cons: A flat, foreshortened view of play at the far end. The lower rows here are the worst sightline in the building for following a full length movement.
Southern end (Milton Road)The southern arc of the 300s, 600s and 700s
The Milton Road end, the quieter of the two ends and usually the end the concert stage is built against.
Pros: Cheap, easy access from Milton station, and a good end-on view of scrums and attacking sets at your end.
Cons: Same foreshortening problem as the northern end without the noise to compensate. For concerts these seats are usually behind or beside the stage.

Getting there
Transport
Milton station is a short walk from the Milton Road (southern) end and Roma Street station is about 15 minutes on foot from the Caxton Street (northern) end; both are on the Brisbane suburban network. The Milton CityCat ferry stop opened in 2015 and lands you a few minutes away on the river side. CityXpress bus routes 375 and 385 serve the ground, and event shuttles run from the CBD on big nights. There is no public parking at the stadium itself, so walking in from the CBD along Caxton Street, or from Milton, is the normal approach.
The area
Milton, roughly 2km west of the Brisbane CBD. The Caxton Street strip on the northern side is the pre and post match centre of gravity, a run of pubs and restaurants that fills hours before kick off; Park Road in Milton on the southern side is the quieter, more restaurant led alternative. The CBD and South Bank are both an easy walk or one train stop away.
