About Karaiskakis Stadium
Karaiskakis Stadium is Olympiacos' steep, intimidating home in Neo Faliro, Piraeus — a compact ~33,000 all-seater rebuilt in 2004 that keeps the crowd tight to the pitch. The two-tier West Stand is the main stand, with the dugouts, tunnel, press and the 40-plus VIP skyboxes; the large single-tier East Stand faces it and carries the white 'OLYMPIACOS FC' seat mosaic. Behind the north goal is the North Stand and Gate 7 (Thyra 7) — home to Greece's most famous and ferocious ultras, and to the twenty-one black seats shaped as a '7' that memorialise the 1981 Gate 7 disaster. The South Stand sits opposite, with visiting fans placed in its south-west corner (around blocks 26-27). Best sightlines are the central upper West and East; the East offers the best value side-on view; and Gate 7 is where you go for the noise. A steep, compact all-seater football bowl of around 33,000, completely demolished and rebuilt in fourteen months for the 2004 Athens Olympics on the historic Neo Phaliron site. Getting there
Transport
The ground sits right by the coast at Neo Faliro. The simplest arrival is Athens Metro Line 1 (the green ISAP line) to Neo Faliro station, essentially next to the stadium, roughly 8 km south-west of central Athens and close to the port of Piraeus. The tram network also serves the Neo Faliro / SEF area nearby. There is a free car park for around 1,000 vehicles, but on big nights the metro is far easier.
