Full detailAbout Neyland Stadium
Neyland Stadium is an enclosed bowl whose lower level is lettered A to W around the field (the Tennessee benches in front of sections S to V) and whose upper level uses double letters (AA to ZZ). The west side falls into shade first, while the east side stays sunlit longest, which flips from a drawback in September to a warm bonus in November. The student sections are D to K on the lower level, with bench seating; the north end Social Deck is standing-room general admission. The best sideline seats are the lower west (roughly P to W) between the 20s; confirm exact numbers on the official chart.
A large enclosed bowl on the north bank of the Tennessee River, with a lower bowl and tall, steep upper decks on the sidelines (the west double-decked in 1962, the east in 1968) that were fully enclosed by 1996. It is open air, and its river-side setting is what makes the Vol Navy boat tailgating possible. The playing surface is Shields-Watkins Field.
