Where should you sit at Stanford Stadium?
The best seats at Stanford Stadium are Lower Level sections 111 to 115 (Stanford side) and 131 to 135 (visitor side) for the view. For value, choose Upper Level sideline sections around 212 to 214 and 232 to 234 (outside the club seats). For atmosphere, head to Sections next to the Red Zone, from 136 on the east sideline round into the south end zone to 104. Avoid Upper Level end zone sections (around 201 to 205 and 221 to 225). Stanford Stadium seats 50,424, home of Stanford Cardinal football.

Full detailAbout Stanford Stadium
Stanford Stadium is the home of Stanford Cardinal football, a 50,424 seat open air bowl on the Stanford University campus that was rebuilt in 2006 inside the footprint of the 1921 original. The Stanford Stadium seating chart has two levels that wrap all the way round: the Lower Level (sections 101 to 140) and the Upper Level (sections 201 to 240), with a Skybox on one sideline for the Director's Level seats and suites. The 50 yard line is at sections 113 and 213 on the Stanford side and 133 and 233 on the visitor (east) side, and the Buck/Cardinal Club chairback seats cluster around those midfield sections. From 2025 the Red Zone student section runs from section 136 on the east sideline round into the south end zone as far as section 104. Every seat has a back, and all seating is uncovered by a roof, so dress for the weather.
The original 1921 stadium was an earthen horseshoe with wooden bleachers. It was demolished after the 2005 season and rebuilt in about ten months as a dual deck concrete bowl with no running track, reopening on 16 September 2006 with 50,424 seats, all with backs, down from the previous 85,000. The sidelines have 43 rows, the ends 22, and a multi storey Skybox holds the Director's Level seats and suites.

What is the Stanford Stadium seating capacity?
The Stanford Stadium seating capacity is about 50,424 seats. The number in use changes with the layout, so here is how each set-up works.
College football (Stanford Cardinal)
Full bowl of 50,424 seats. The Stanford bench is on the west sideline (50 yard line at 113; sections 105 to 110 are on this side) and the visiting bench on the east sideline (50 yard line at 133). The Red Zone student section runs from section 136 into the south end zone to section 104, and Field Boxes sit at field level in each end zone.
Stadium concerts
Concerts use the field as well as the bowl. Coldplay (2025) sold general admission field tickets with wristbands issued at Gate 12, while BTS (2026) sold seated VIP floor sections A to R. Layouts, stage position and which sections are sold change from show to show, so always check the seat map for your event.
Soccer
The San Jose Earthquakes have played selected MLS matches at Stanford Stadium since 2011, and the stadium hosted matches at the 1984 Olympics, the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup.
What are the seating levels at Stanford Stadium?
Lower Level, Stanford (west) sideline105-115 (50 yard line at 113; Buck/Cardinal Club 111-115)
The home sideline, behind the Stanford bench. The centre sections 111 to 115 are Buck/Cardinal Club chairback seats with the closest views of the 50 yard line; sections 105 to 110 run towards the south end zone.
Pros: Close, head on views of the home bench and midfield; club seats with extra hospitality in the centre.
Cons: Centre club sections are the most expensive non premium tickets and are sold mainly to Priority Seat members.
Lower Level, visitor (east) sideline131-136 (50 yard line at 133; club seats in 133)
The sideline opposite the Stanford bench, behind the visiting team. From 2025 the mouth of the Red Zone student section starts at section 136 on this side, so the southern end of the east sideline is loud and busy.
Pros: The same low sideline view as the home side, usually with less demand than the Stanford side.
Cons: You face the Stanford bench rather than sit behind it; sections near 136 are next to the student section, which suits some fans more than others.
Lower Level end zonesSouth 137-140 and 101-104; north end around 124
End zone seating at both ends. The south end is taken up by the Red Zone student section (136 round to 104) and the north end holds the Buck/Cardinal Club hospitality space on the outer concourse. The ends are shallower than the sides, with 22 rows against 43 on the sidelines.
Pros: Close to scoring plays at your end and usually cheaper than the sidelines.
Cons: Play at the far end looks distant and side on; the south end is mostly student seating.
Upper Level201-240 (50 yard line at 213 and 233; club seats 211-215 and 233)
The second deck wraps the whole bowl above the Lower Level. Sideline sections give a raised, full field view, and the centre sections on each side include Buck/Cardinal Club chairback seats.
Pros: The best angle for watching plays develop; often the cheapest reserved seats; every seat has a back.
Cons: Further from the field, and the end and corner sections are a long way from the far end zone.
Skybox: Director's Level and Skybox SuitesDirector's Level (2nd floor of the Skybox), suites (3rd and 4th floors)
The Skybox holds 400 Director's Level seats on its second floor and seven private Skybox suites on the third and fourth floors, each suite seating up to 12 guests plus two standing passes.
Pros: Cushioned chairback seats, complimentary food and drink including beer and wine, reserved Track Lot parking and expedited entry.
Cons: Sold as premium packages rather than single game tickets, and priced accordingly.
Field Boxes and field level (event dependent)Field Boxes in each end zone; floor sections A-R at some concerts
Field Boxes are premium boxes for groups of up to 20 at field level in each end zone. For concerts the field becomes general admission standing or seated floor sections, depending on the show.
Pros: The closest you can get to the players or the stage.
Cons: Field Boxes are group bookings; seated floor rows at concerts are flat, so rear rows see less.
Stanford Stadium view from your seat
Lower Level, Stanford sideline
105 to 115 (50 yard line at 113, club seats 111 to 115)Low, close sideline seats behind the Stanford bench. The centre sections look straight across the 50 yard line, and the view angles away towards the south end zone as you move down to 105.
Tip: For the 50 yard line on the home side, look at 113 first, then 112 or 114.
Lower Level, visitor sideline
131 to 136 (50 yard line at 133)The mirror of the home side, looking back across at the Stanford bench. Section 136 is where the Red Zone student section begins, so noise builds towards the south end.
Tip: For the 50 yard line on this side, look at 133, then 132 or 134.
Lower Level south end zone
137 to 140 and 101 to 104End on seats behind the south goal line, taken up mainly by the Red Zone student section. You are close to scoring plays at this end and look down the length of the field to the north.
Tip: The ends have 22 rows rather than 43, so even the back rows here are not far from the field.
Lower Level north end zone
Around 124 (north end)End on seats at the north end, facing the student section across the field. Guest Services sits on the concourse above section 124.
Tip: A calmer end zone option than the south end on game days.
Upper Level sidelines
211 to 215 (home) and 232 to 234 (visitor)A raised view of the whole field from above the Lower Level. The centre sections 211 to 215 and 233 include Buck/Cardinal Club chairback seats.
Tip: 213 and 233 sit on the 50 yard line; the last two digits line up with the Lower Level below.
Upper Level end zones
Around 201 to 205 (south) and 221 to 225 (north)Higher views from the ends of the second deck, looking down the length of the field. Good for seeing the shape of plays, but the far end zone is distant.
Tip: Row V in these sections holds upper level wheelchair spaces, sold as general admission accessible seats for football.
How do Stanford Stadium seat numbers work?
Stanford Stadium sections run 101 to 140 on the Lower Level and 201 to 240 on the Upper Level, and the last two digits line up between the two decks. The 50 yard line is at 113 and 213 on the Stanford (west) side and at 133 and 233 on the visitor (east) side; the south end zone includes 101 to 104 and 137 to 140. Rows are lettered from the front: Row Y is the top row of each Lower Level section, where the lower level wheelchair spaces are, and Row V holds the wheelchair spaces in the Upper Level sections that have them. Seat numbers run along each row within the section.
Reading a ticket: Section 113, Row Y: the top row of the Lower Level on the Stanford side at the 50 yard line, the row used for lower level wheelchair and companion seating.
Stanford Stadium floor plan for concerts
Stanford Stadium hosts a small number of stadium concerts, and each tour brings its own layout, so always check the Stanford Stadium seat map for your show. The field is used for concert tickets as well as the Lower and Upper Levels.
The floor: For Coldplay in 2025 the field was general admission, with field ticket holders entering at Gate 12 to collect a wristband. For BTS in 2026 the floor was sold as seated VIP sections A to R, with ADA platforms in floor sections B, F and P.
Reserved seat holders at the Coldplay show entered through Gates 2, 4, 5 and 10. Floor rows are flat, so a higher row in a Lower Level section facing the stage can give a better view than the back of the floor.

Which seats should you avoid at Stanford Stadium?
Upper Level end zone sections (around 201 to 205 and 221 to 225): The furthest seats from the far end zone, looking down the length of the field from high up.
Low rows of the Lower Level end zones: A flat view at field height, so play at the far end is hard to judge and the benches and staff along the sidelines can get in the way.
Sections beside or behind a concert stage: Side on or blocked views of the stage and screens; which sections are affected depends on the tour's layout.
Rear rows of a seated concert floor: The floor is level, so the stage can be hard to see over the rows in front.
Where is accessible seating at Stanford Stadium?
Stanford Stadium has wheelchair and companion seating, ADA accessible restrooms on the main concourse, upper level and Skybox, and a family restroom behind section 103. On football days an ADA shuttle of motorised carts runs from two hours before kickoff to 45 minutes after the game, with its main drop off at Gate 4. Assistive listening devices are available at Guest Services at the south end above section 104, and both video boards show closed captions of public address announcements. Game day relocations into ADA seats are limited and handled first come, first served.
Where: Lower Level wheelchair and companion seats are in Row Y, the top row of each Lower Level section. On the Upper Level they are in Row V of selected sections: the stadium lists 206 to 208, 218 to 228 and 238 to 240 as reserved accessible sections and 201 to 205 and 221 to 225 as general admission accessible sections, and event layouts can vary (for BTS the listing was Row V of 201 to 207, 219 to 227 and 239 to 240 plus parts of 208, 218, 228 and 238, with ADA platforms on the floor).
