Full detailAbout Rose Bowl Stadium
The Rose Bowl is the historic open-air stadium in Pasadena that hosts UCLA Bruins football and the annual Rose Bowl Game, plus major concerts and international football. The Rose Bowl seating capacity is 89,702, and the building once held far more (104,091 at its peak, with a record crowd of 106,869 in 1973). The Rose Bowl seating chart is simple: one continuous oval bowl split into 28 numbered sections, with the tunnels carrying the same numbers. Sections 1 to 8 line the east side, 9 to 14 the north end, 15 to 22 the west side and 23 to 28 the south end. Each section has 77 numbered rows with lettered rows below Row 1, and you enter from the tunnel at Row 28. The west sideline (sections 16 to 21) is the UCLA bench side and sits under the Terry Donahue Pavilion, home of the suites, loge boxes and club seats. The east sideline (sections 2 to 7) faces it, and at UCLA games it holds The Den student section. There is no roof or upper tier, so every seat is out in the open.
Designed by Myron Hunt and opened in 1922 as a horseshoe, the Rose Bowl was closed into a full oval when the south end was enclosed in 1928. It is a single open bowl with no upper deck and no roof, set into the Arroyo Seco with the San Gabriel Mountains behind. The Terry Donahue Pavilion on the west side, part of the 2011 to 2014 renovation, holds the press box, suites, loge boxes and club seats. The stadium is a National Historic Landmark.

What is the Rose Bowl Stadium seating capacity?
The Rose Bowl Stadium seating capacity is about 89,702 seats. The number in use changes with the layout, so here is how each set-up works.
College football (UCLA Bruins)
UCLA's bench is on the west sideline. Since 2024 The Den student section includes sections 2 to 6 on the east sideline, directly behind the visiting bench, where the first seven rows are safe standing areas; most of the student section is in sections 6 to 10.
Rose Bowl Game
Played every New Year. For the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Rose Bowl Game, the higher ranked team uses the west sideline with its fans in the west and north sections, and the lower ranked team uses the east sideline with its fans in the east and south sections.
Concerts
Stadium concerts put a stage and floor on the field. Layouts vary by tour, and ticket-seller guides describe the stage usually sitting at the south end, with some bowl sections beside and behind it left unsold. Always check the seating chart for your show.
Football (soccer)
The Rose Bowl hosted the 1994 men's World Cup final and the 1999 Women's World Cup final and is scheduled to host football at the 2028 Olympic Games. The pitch fills the field and the whole bowl is used.
What are the seating levels at Rose Bowl Stadium?
West sideline15-22
Sections 16 to 21 run between the corners, with 15 and 22 at the corners. This is the UCLA bench side at Bruins games, and the Terry Donahue Pavilion above it holds the press box, suites, loge boxes and club seats.
Pros: Sideline view with the home bench in front of you at UCLA games; the premium seating is on this side; the higher ranked team's sideline at the Rose Bowl Game quarterfinal.
Cons: Usually the most in demand side; corner sections 15 and 22 look at the field at an angle.
East sideline1-8
Sections 2 to 7 run along the east sideline, with 1 and 8 at the corners. At UCLA games the visiting bench is on this side and The Den student section fills sections 2 to 6 and 6 to 10.
Pros: Full sideline view looking across at the home bench and the Pavilion; the loudest home atmosphere at UCLA games.
Cons: Rows 1 to 7 of sections 2 to 6 are standing only at UCLA games; no premium seating on this side.
North end9-14
The curved north end of the bowl. Sections 10 to 13 sit behind the end zone, with 9 and 14 turning into the corners.
Pros: A straight view down the length of the field; at the Rose Bowl Game quarterfinal the north sections go to the higher ranked team's fans.
Cons: Play at the far end looks distant, especially from low rows.
South end23-28
The south end, enclosed in 1928 when the original horseshoe was closed. Tunnel 28 at the corner has customer service and restrooms, and a South End Zone Field Club with field level premium seats was announced for this end in January 2026.
Pros: A straight view down the field; Tunnel 28 services close by.
Cons: Tunnels 24 to 27 are not wheelchair accessible; play at the north end looks distant.
Rose Bowl Stadium view from your seat
West sideline (UCLA side)
16 to 21, corners 15 and 22A sideline view of the field with the UCLA bench in front of you at Bruins games and the Terry Donahue Pavilion rising behind. The Loge Boxes in the Pavilion sit between the 35 yard lines.
Tip: If you want to face the home team's bench and the student section across the field, this is the side to pick.
East sideline (visitor side)
2 to 7, corners 1 and 8You look across the field at the UCLA bench and the Pavilion. At UCLA games the first seven rows of sections 2 to 6 are standing rails for The Den, and the main student section runs through 6 to 10.
Tip: Want to sit down all game? Avoid rows 1 to 7 of sections 2 to 6 at UCLA games.
North end zone
9 to 14 (end zone 10 to 13)You look straight down the field. Scoring plays at your end are close, and the far end looks a long way off from the low rows.
Tip: Sit higher up, above tunnel level at Row 28, for a better view of plays at the far end.
South end zone
23 to 28 (end zone 24 to 27)The mirror of the north end, looking straight up the field. For many concerts this end is where the stage goes, so check the map for your show.
Tip: Tunnels 24 to 27 are not wheelchair accessible; step free guests should look at other sections.
Lettered rows (bottom of every section)
Rows below Row 1 in all sectionsThe lettered rows sit below Row 1, closest to the field. You are near the action but at a low angle, so play on the far side is harder to read.
Tip: Guests in rows 27 and below in sections 2 to 7 and 16 to 21 may use the field tunnels 7A and 15A at the Rose Bowl Game.
Upper rows (above the tunnels)
Rows 28 to 77 in all sectionsAbove tunnel level the bowl climbs to Row 77, giving a fuller, higher view of the whole field and the San Gabriel Mountains beyond the stadium.
Tip: You enter at Row 28, so seats near Row 28 mean the shortest walk to the concourse.
How do Rose Bowl Stadium seat numbers work?
The official stadium map shows 28 sections numbered 1 to 28, and the tunnels carry the same numbers. Section 1 sits at the south end of the east side; numbers climb north along the east sideline to 8, across the north end (9 to 14), back down the west sideline (15 to 22) and across the south end (23 to 28). Every section has 77 numbered rows, with lettered rows below Row 1 starting at Row A and running down towards the field. The tunnels enter the bowl at Row 28. Each section is split into low seats (1, 2, 3 and so on) and high seats (101, 102, 103 and so on): standing in the tunnel facing the field, the low seats are on your left and the high seats on your right.
Reading a ticket: Section 18, Row 35, Seat 104: west sideline on the UCLA side, seven rows above tunnel level (Row 28), in the right hand half of the section as you face the field from the tunnel.
Rose Bowl Stadium floor plan for concerts
Concert layouts change by tour, so always check the seating chart for your show. The field becomes the floor and a stage is built at one end of the bowl; ticket-seller guides describe the stage usually sitting at the south end.
The floor: Floor seating on the field is either reserved or general admission depending on the show.
The stage: Usually at the south end of the field, in front of sections 24 to 28.
With a south end stage, the north end sections (9 to 14) face it head on, and the sideline sections see it side on, at a sharper angle the closer you are to the stage. Sections beside and behind the stage are usually not sold or are sold as limited view.

Which seats should you avoid at Rose Bowl Stadium?
Rows 1 to 7 of sections 2 to 6 at UCLA games: Standing only student areas with rails between rows, not a place to sit down.
Top rows of every section, up towards Row 77: A long climb of nearly 50 rows from the tunnel at Row 28 and the furthest view of the field.
Lowest lettered rows, especially at the corners: A low angle, so play on the far side is hard to follow and people on the sideline can block your view.
Sections beside or behind the stage at concerts: A sharp side view or a view of the back of the stage; check whether your seat is sold as limited view.
Seats reached through tunnels 24 to 27, for step free guests: These are the only tunnels that are not wheelchair accessible.
Where is accessible seating at Rose Bowl Stadium?
All stadium gates are wheelchair accessible except Gate E, and all tunnels are wheelchair accessible except tunnels 24 to 27. Restrooms, drinking fountains and courtesy phones are accessible. At the Rose Bowl Game guests with disabilities can use any of the eight gates plus an extra accessible entry between Gates B and C. Wheelchair assistance from the gates to your seat is available first come first served (the stadium's wheelchairs are for transport only). Assistive listening devices and closed captioning are available from the administrative offices between tunnels 28 and 1. Accessible parking is in Lots B, D and F with a valid placard.
Where: Accessible seating is on Row 28, the level where the tunnels enter the bowl. At UCLA games you can buy accessible seats online or through the UCLA ticket office, and swap standard tickets for accessible seats on game day at the Customer Service window outside Gate B or at Tunnel 28. At the Rose Bowl Game guests can request designated accessible seating with up to three companion tickets.

How do you get to Rose Bowl Stadium?
Transport
The Rose Bowl is about 10 miles north east of downtown Los Angeles. By Metro, take the A Line to Memorial Park Station in Pasadena, then either walk about 2.4 miles or use the Rose Bowl shuttle where one runs for your event. A shuttle also links the Parsons lot in Old Town Pasadena with Lot B at the stadium on many event days. Parking: passes for stadium events and for UCLA football are sold online in advance through the stadium, and the lots around the bowl and Brookside Golf Course open hours before kick off (six hours before at UCLA games). In and out parking is not allowed on Rose Bowl Game day. Accessible parking is in Lots B, D and F with a valid placard, first come first served. Rideshare zones change by event, so check your event page. The stadium is cashless.
The area
The stadium sits in Brookside Park in the Arroyo Seco on the west side of Pasadena, right beside the 36 hole Brookside Golf Course. It is a leafy, largely residential setting, so most pre and post game food and drink is in Old Town Pasadena, which the Parsons shuttle connects to the stadium on event days.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Rose Bowl seating capacity?
The Rose Bowl seats 89,702. It was bigger in the past: capacity peaked at 104,091 between 1972 and 1997, and the record crowd was 106,869 at the 1973 Rose Bowl Game. Capacity for concerts depends on the stage and floor layout.
Where can I see a Rose Bowl seating chart or seat map?
The Tournament of Roses publishes the official Rose Bowl stadium map on its seating map page, showing the 28 numbered sections, gates, tunnels and accessible routes. For concerts, use the seat map on your ticket listing, because stage position and floor sections change by tour.
How are sections, rows and seat numbers laid out at the Rose Bowl?
There are 28 sections numbered round the bowl, matching the tunnel numbers: 1 to 8 on the east side, 9 to 14 at the north end, 15 to 22 on the west side and 23 to 28 at the south end. Rows run from lettered rows at the bottom up through Rows 1 to 77, and you enter at Row 28. Seat numbers are split in two: low seats (1 and up) to your left and high seats (101 and up) to your right as you face the field from the tunnel.
What are the best seats at the Rose Bowl?
For football, the west sideline sections 16 to 21 give a sideline view on the UCLA side under the premium Pavilion, while the east sideline 2 to 7 faces it. For atmosphere at UCLA games, sit near The Den in sections 2 to 10. For a view down the whole field, choose the upper rows of the end zones.
What is the view from my seat like at the Rose Bowl?
It depends mostly on your row. The lettered rows and low numbered rows are close to the field but low, rows around the tunnel level (Row 28) give a balanced view, and rows up towards 77 show the whole field with the mountains beyond. Sideline sections (2 to 7 and 16 to 21) see across the field; end zone sections (10 to 13 and 24 to 27) look along it.
Which side is UCLA on at the Rose Bowl?
UCLA's bench is on the west sideline, below the Terry Donahue Pavilion. The Den student section sits on the east sideline in sections 2 to 6 behind the visiting bench, with most students in sections 6 to 10.
Where do I park for the Rose Bowl?
Buy a parking pass online in advance: the stadium sells passes for its events and for UCLA football. The lots around the stadium and Brookside Golf Course open hours before kick off (six hours before at UCLA games). Accessible parking is in Lots B, D and F. You can also park in Old Town Pasadena and take the Parsons shuttle to Lot B, or ride the Metro A Line to Memorial Park Station.
Where is the stage for Rose Bowl concerts?
It varies by tour, but ticket-seller guides describe the stage usually sitting at the south end in front of sections 24 to 28, with the floor on the field and the north end (sections 9 to 14) facing it. Check the seating chart for your show before you buy.
Is the Rose Bowl accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes. Every gate except Gate E and every tunnel except 24 to 27 is wheelchair accessible, accessible seating is on Row 28 at tunnel level, and wheelchair assistance is offered from the gates to your seat. Assistive listening devices and captioning are available near Tunnel 28, and accessible parking is in Lots B, D and F.
