About Puskás Aréna

The Puskás Aréna is Hungary's 67,215-seat national stadium and one of Europe's newest major grounds. Three steep all-seater tiers rise under a full roof, the middle tier carrying 80 skyboxes and the arena's hospitality spaces, and the stands are kept close to the pitch. It hosts Hungary internationals, European club fixtures and, in 2026, the UEFA Champions League final.

The Puskás Aréna is Hungary's national football stadium, built between 2017 and 2019 on the site of the demolished Puskás Ferenc Stadion and named, like its predecessor, after the legendary Ferenc Puskás. Designed by architect György Skardelli, it opened on 15 November 2019 with a match between Hungary and Uruguay, and incorporates 50,000 cubic metres of recycled concrete from the original 1953 stadium. The all-seater bowl holds 67,215 spectators across three steep tiers (28 rows at the bottom, 22 in the middle and 25 on top), and its roof, covering around 57,000 square metres and built from around 12,000 tonnes of structural steel, shelters every seat behind a facade of steel mesh carried on 38 monolithic pylons. The middle tier holds the stadium's 80 skyboxes, reached via the surrounding Sky Lounge and Sky Lobby concourse, plus four corner Sky Club lounges and the larger Business VIP and VIP Club event spaces. Owned by the Hungarian Football Federation, it hosts Hungary's home internationals and European club fixtures beyond the reach of domestic grounds, and it staged the 2020 UEFA Super Cup. In 2026 it hosted the UEFA Champions League final, the first in Hungary's history.

Skybox and hospitality level

The arena's 80 skyboxes sit around the Sky Lounge and Sky Lobby concourse on the middle tier, alongside four corner Sky Club lounges (up to 60 guests each) and the larger Business VIP (east side) and VIP Club (west side) event spaces.

Pros: Private lounge access, catering and, for the corner Sky Club units, sightlines close to the pitch.

Accessible seating is on the first tier level (lower tier), with a fully accessible route, lifts and ramps to all levels, and low-level concession counters nearby. Modern concourse facilities offer a range of food and drink outlets on the public levels, and the stadium operates cashless payment: the venue's own FAQ confirms only card and the Hellopay system are accepted, with no cash sales. The arena stands in Budapest's 14th district (Zugló), around 3 km from the city centre, and is uniquely well connected: the M2 metro line's Puskás Ferenc Stadion station sits directly beneath the complex, and the journey from Deák Ferenc tér in the centre takes only about seven minutes. Numerous bus routes and the number 1 tram serve the surrounding stops, and a range of bus and light-rail connections pass within a short walk. Parking depends on the event organiser's arrangements and is very limited near the arena, so the venue's own site recommends public transport for events.

The area

The arena occupies a sports precinct in Zugló that also includes the Budapest Sports Arena and the adjacent Arena Plaza shopping mall with its food court, about 3 km east of the city centre. The Stadionok area is a standard residential and commercial district, with the historic centre and its riverside attractions a short metro ride away.
