About Utilita Arena Birmingham

Utilita Arena Birmingham is the city's principal indoor arena with a concert capacity of 15,800, making it one of the largest in the United Kingdom. The refurbished bowl surrounds a flexible floor with a lower and upper seating tier, plus hospitality suites and lounges on the upper levels, and its central location beside Birmingham's canal network makes it one of the easiest major arenas to reach on foot from the city centre.

Opened on 4 October 1991 by Linford Christie as the National Indoor Arena, the venue was the largest indoor arena in the United Kingdom at the time and helped establish Birmingham as a major events city. It closed in 2013 for a £26 million redevelopment designed by Broadway Malyan and reopened on 2 December 2014 with a Michael Bublé concert. Owned by the NEC Group, it has been known as the NIA, the Barclaycard Arena, Arena Birmingham and, since 2020, Utilita Arena Birmingham.

Lower TierBlocks 1–12

The lower bowl tier in numbered blocks 1 to 12, with rows A to U. Blocks 2 and 11 sit closest to the stage corners, with 3 and 10 just behind.

Pros: Raked seating with clear sightlines. Front rows of blocks 2, 11, 3 and 10 give a near-floor view without the flat-floor risk.

Cons: Central blocks 4–9 face the stage at considerable distance.

Upper TierBlocks 1–12

The arena is a 15–20 minute walk from Birmingham New Street station, the city's main rail hub. There are 2,156 on-site parking spaces across the North, South and West car parks on King Edwards Road; the West car park is reserved for pre-booked and hospitality customers, and all parking payments are cashless. Several bus routes serve the city centre stops a short walk away.
