About MHPArena

The MHPArena is a roofed, football-only bowl where the home end is the Cannstatter Kurve — VfB Stuttgart's ultras (Commando Cannstatt 97) and the huge lower standing terrace of around 8,000. The long sides are the Haupttribüne (Main Stand, on Mercedesstraße, holding the VIP lounges and press) and the Gegentribüne (opposite, the only stand with a small third tier). The Untertürkheimer Kurve is the opposite curve and houses the away section, with visitors entering through blocks 61–65. Domestic games run at 60,058 with roughly 11,000 rail-seat standing places; for UEFA and international fixtures those convert to seats and capacity falls to about 54,812. Bowl geometry and full roof cover mean there's barely a bad seat — the central Gegentribüne and Haupttribüne give the best value side-on views. Concerts use an end stage with a standing pitch, so the far curve behind the stage becomes restricted or unused.

A football-only bowl in the NeckarPark with a striking, wave-like fabric roof of PVC-coated polyester membranes designed by Schlaich Bergermann Partner. The running track was removed and the pitch lowered by 1.30 m in the 2009–2011 conversion, bringing the stands right up to the touchlines; the main-stand lower tier was completely rebuilt for EURO 2024, lifting capacity to just over 60,000.

Full 60,058 capacity including around 11,000 safe-standing rail-seat places, most on the lower Cannstatter Kurve. Away fans in the Untertürkheimer Kurve (blocks 61–65), up to about 5,000.

UEFA / international matches

All-seater by regulation — the rail seats are locked in the seated position, cutting capacity to roughly 54,812. Used for VfB European nights and Germany/EURO 2024 games.

Concerts (stadium shows)

End-stage with a standing pitch and seated floor blocks; the long-side stands give the best elevated views and the curve directly behind the stage is sold restricted or left unused.

The MHPArena is entirely step-free with around 200 wheelchair spaces plus companion seating, disabled parking and accessible toilets and concourses. Blind and partially-sighted fans can use audio-descriptive match commentary. Accessible tickets are booked in advance through VfB's dedicated service.

Where: Wheelchair-and-companion platforms are distributed around the lower tiers on all four sides so home, neutral and away disabled supporters can be seated appropriately; audio commentary is provided for blind/partially-sighted fans.

VfB Stuttgart's caterer Aramark leans firmly Swabian at the MHPArena: alongside Currywurst and the local classic Die Rote, kiosks sell Klassische Maultaschen, Käsespätzle mit Röstzwiebeln, LKW-Fleischkäse, Hopfenbratwurst, Falafel Pita and Riesenbrezeln, with meat from regional butcher Idler and baked goods from the regional Bäckerei Keim. Plant-based eaters get a vegan Bratwurst and vegan Maultaschen, and drinks stretch beyond beer to coffee, Schorle and Spritz.

The arena sits in the NeckarPark district of Bad Cannstatt, about 4.5 km north-east of Stuttgart's centre and next to the Porsche-Arena, Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle and the Mercedes-Benz Museum. Take S-Bahn line S1 from the Hauptbahnhof towards Kirchheim/Plochingen and get off at NeckarPark (Mercedes-Benz), about a 5-minute walk. On matchdays the Stadtbahn U11 runs directly to the NeckarPark/Stadion stop, with U19 also serving the area. Driving in is discouraged — parking is limited and pre-booked; use the B10/B14 if you must.

The area

A stadium-and-events quarter on the Neckar rather than a bar district — the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the two indoor arenas and the Cannstatter Wasen festival grounds are all within walking distance. Bad Cannstatt's old town and the city centre (reached in a few minutes by S-Bahn) have far more bars and restaurants for pre-match.
