About Royal Arena

The Royal Arena is Denmark's great modern concert arena: a flexible wood-clad hall seating 12,500 for sport and scaling to 17,000 for concerts. The audience sits on three sides of the stage across Level 1 and Level 3, with the floor used for standing or seating, and the arena's configuration can extend all the way around for special events. A range of hospitality spaces, including the Vinyl Room lounge and private suites, sit apart from the general seating.

The Royal Arena is a multi-use indoor arena in the Ørestad South district of Copenhagen, designed by the Danish architectural firm 3XN with HKS as arena specialists. Ground was broken on 26 June 2013 and the arena opened on 3 February 2017 with a Metallica concert — fittingly featuring the band's Danish drummer Lars Ulrich. Built at a cost of DKK 1 billion (about €134 million), the wood-clad arena welcomed its one millionth visitor in September 2018 and its three millionth in November 2023.

An elevator at Entrance B provides access to Levels 1 and 3, and guests using walkers or rollators can store them in the staffed cloakroom on Level 1. The arena's own parking garage has 6 dedicated accessible spaces: 4 on the ground floor and 2 on each upper level.

Food & drink at Royal Arena

Food stands sell pizza, hot dogs and snacks around the arena, and drinks come from named partners: beers from Royal Unibrew and Nørrebro Bryghus, cocktails and long drinks from Nohrlund, wines from Kjær & Sommerfeldt, and coffee from Nespresso. Restaurant Nohrlund, reached via Entrance V2, opens for dinner and cocktails before the show on select event evenings, with table bookings through EasyTable. Outside food and drink cannot be brought into the arena.

Transport

The arena stands at Hannemanns Allé 18-20 in Ørestad, beside the E20 motorway at exit 19. Metro line M1 stops at both Ørestad and Vestamager stations beside the arena, regional and Øresund trains reach Ørestad station from Copenhagen Central in about six minutes, and buses 500S, 32 and 33 run directly to Ørestad station. Parking is available in the surrounding Ørestad garages, including Hannemann, Ejler Bille, Kay Fisker and Edvard Thomsen, with a limited number of accessible spaces in and near the arena garage.

The area

The arena anchors Ørestad South, Copenhagen's modern planned district between the city centre and the airport, with the Field's shopping centre, the Royal Arena's own plazas and the Kalvebod Fælled nature area nearby. Central Copenhagen is about 15 minutes away by metro, and the airport is directly reachable on the same line.
